RIP coffee
Here is a picture taken of my first batch roasting RIP (Roasted In Parchment) coffee. I won’t know for a bit how the coffee turned out. The biggest difference in roasting this kind of coffee is that the visual and auditory cues are muted and different than when roasting [...] This past Saturday, Rebecca and I rode the bike trail from Xenia to Yellow Springs and back. We decided to stop for lunch in Yellow Springs on the way back at a local pizza place called ‘Ha Ha Pizza’.

Drum Major Brutus
The Brutus on Parade statues have started to arrive at the Schottenstein Center. Conspicuously absent were the Butter Brutus, Gordon Gee Brutus, Tin Brutus, Elvis Brutus and a few more. A pleasant surprise was a Bill Willis Brutus, which I found to be a nice homage to the [...] Not me! The photo above is not me, but I was on this part of the trail today. I stalled out toward the top and had to walk it out. On a whim, I decided to bike on the Alum Creek mountain bike trail today. I have never been mountain biking on my ‘mountain’ [...] Adena Burial Mound This is a picture of an Adena burial mound found in Prairie Oaks Metro Park. I don’t know about you, but this just looks like a grassy hill to me. Having seen the great Serpent Mound, this was a real disappointment. The rest of the park is great, however. [...] Nature's Corn Dog While hiking in Prairie Oaks Metro Park yesterday I saw this group of cat tails. It occurred to me that they resemble corn dogs more than anything. When the John Edwards infidelity scandal erupted, it struck me that had he paid more attention, he would have realized that Michael Jackson had warned him about this circa 1982 in his hit song, ‘Billie Jean’. Let’s examine the lyrics: “She was more like a beauty queen from a movie scene” Here, John is the [...] Deer looks at me while I take the pic. Deer prancing away to safer ground Rebecca and I had a very nice hike on a very hot day in Old Man’s Cave. We did have the benefit of a canopy of trees, which makes it cooler than other activities. Rebecca’s hiking boots ended [...] Rebecca and I have returned from a few days of solitude in the Hocking Hills region. We hiked by day and enjoyed campfires and some old movies by night. I brought the MacBook as our portable theater and we then watched two movies from the Cold War era that I hadn’t seen in ages. They [...] |
